Active Manuka Honey Review – How Does Honey Affect Facial Skin?

Active manuka honey is coming up on a lot of product labels these days and there has been a lot of talk by advertisers and manufacturers that claim there are special characteristics to this particular strain of honey that it more powerful than any other honey source. Are these claims true? What results can you expect from manuka honey products?

A lot of ingredients that are pumped up in the media for use on the face are not as effective as all the hype claims, but manuka honey products are one exception. When you see active manuka honey advertised as a main ingredient in a skin care product, chances are high that the results will be superior to other products.

Honey is nothing new to the facial care market. Long before active manuka honey came along, honey was considered a very powerful substance that did great things for human skin. This is because honey has a lot of antioxidants and is also a powerful antibacterial, which means it is efficient not only at nourishing and moisturizing the skin (antioxidants), but it fights off free radicals and toxins that can lead to damage in the skin (antibacterial).

Burt’s Bees Products good for Acne?
I’m wondering if anyone out there who is a Burt’s Bees customer uses particular products for their acne? I have had pretty bad breakouts for the past few months. I love Burt’s Bee’s products, and I came across their Herbal Blemish stick at the store yesterday and it works wonderfully!! I went to their website and they offer a number of facial scrubs, cleansers, toners, facial bars…all of which has great reviews from customers but which ones work the best together?

    • chinchichick says:

Does anyone suffer with Facial Eczema? Please HELP!?
Hi people, this is kind of long but I really hope that you can help me out with this.

I was diagnosed with mild eczema on my face 3 years ago, especially the area at both corners and below of my nose, both corners of my lips, and the area of my chin. It’s always dry, peeling, scaly, red, and a bit itchy. I am really sick and tired of all the steroid creams (hydrocortisone, fluocinolone, betamethasone and etc) and non steroid creams (Elidel and Protopic) that I’ve been prescribed by my local dermatologist. Now I’ve stop using steroid cream because it gives me pimples. The non-steroid ones does no justice as well. Currently I’m using a Cetaphil moisturizer cream prescribed by my dermatologist. It has been a week and it kind of helps the peeling part, but the redness and scaly thing are still there. Do you think I should continue using this Cetaphil moisturizer cream?

I’ve also read many questions regarding eczema and many people recommend a moisturizer product called “Aveeno”. I continued reading and came across another question and someone recommended “Gentle Naturals Disney Baby Eczema Cream”. So I’ve checked out these two brands, read the reviews and ingredients, and decided to give it a try. So two days ago I ordered, “Aveeno Active Naturals Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream” and “Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream” online and now hoping that it would arrive before my facial eczema got worse. If the Aveeno doesn’t work, I will use the Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream as a backup plan. Yes, this is how desperate I am because this eczema problem really depressed me.

I have a few questions for those who have facial eczema,

    1) Do you have similiar condition like mine? The dry, peeling, scaly, red, and a bit itchy problems.

    2) Have you tried using any Aveeno product before?

    3) Do you think it will clear up the problems if I ONLY apply Aveeno product for my eczema (without putting steroid cream beneath)? Or am I doomed to depend on steroid cream for the rest of my life?

    4) Do you think it’s a good idea to exfoliate my face, scrub?

Please don’t suggest herbal creams like Champori, I have tried that before and it has this dark black green disgusting colour and horrible smell which doesn’t really provide comfort for my eczema problem.

I’m really desperate for help. :(

I had a patch of really dry skin,I don’t think it was eczema but Oil Of Olay moisturizing daily facials got rid of it.

How are these facial products? (Clean and Clear Morning Burst & St. Ives Apricot Scrub)?
Hey everyone!! Alright so I want to start using exfoliaters and scrubs to improve my skin. I want to get the following products

    •St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Srub
•Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shine Control

I kinda want your personal experiences with this and sort of like a review and how many stars out of five would you give it. Thank so much to everyone in advance = )

    • samanthaawilsonn says:

the st ives apricot scrub is FANTASTIC. i used forever and i loved it, but i found something better.
the clean & clear stuff is horrible. it made me and many other people i talked to break out even more, and just made me skin tighten, which made it more shiny.

try the St. Ives apricot scrub or neutrogena deep clean acne wash.

    Whats a good…?
    facial product to remove blackheads????

i read somewhere online that if you have blackheads you are bound to have acne, and my sister has acne so im afraid I’ll get it.

I know you cant completely get rid of blackheads but just reduce the size.

i have combination skin, and tiny little spots,so most of the time my skin has a reaction to products.

can someone advice me to something that will reduce my blackhead & spots???

    thanks a lot.

p.s to all who use clean & clear blackhead scrub/cleanser does it really work?whats your review?

    thanks

    • ♥ ᏨʊῤᏨαӄƐ ♥ says:

Neutrogena Blackhead Control Cleansing Pads are really good. The price varies from £3.50-£5 depending where you shop. One side is raised to cleanse the T-zone (head, nose and chin) and the other side is soft to do your cheeks. Hope they work if you decide to get some. good luck x

  7. ♥ a little mermaid says:

L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser? Which one’s for me?
Okay so L’Oreal just came out with a new line of cleansers called “Go 360″ I have seen a ton of great reviews already on this line, it comes with a special “scrubblet” that cleans your skin… I’m thinking about getting this product but I dont know which formula is right for me… first i’ll tell you a little about my skin. M skin is combination but with dryness around my cheeks, my skin is not very ance prone but I have been getting some breakouts around my cheeks lately. I really want a cleanser that will control my oil in my t-zone, hydrates my skin, and helps control m breakouts. So what cleaner do you think is right for me?

    Go 360 Deep Facial Cleanser
Go 360 Deep Clean for sensitive skin
    Go 360 Deep Cream Cleanser
    Go 360 Deep exfoliating scrub

    Thanks in advance!

    • Extreme Shopaholic says:

I’m going to get this today!!! The only bad things I’ve heard about it is that it can be drying. Considering that you do indeed have some dry patches you should definitely go for the sensitive skin. Even of you don’t have sensitive skin this line of cleansers are very drying if you do have dry spots.

      Hope I helped!

  8. =] says:

Is this a good skincare routine?
I was thinking of getting a good skincare routine. Tell me watch a think:

    Burts bees radiance face wash
    Burts bees citrus facial scrub
Burts bees pore refining Mask(once a week)
Burts bees day radiance cream with SPF 15

Please tell me what you think, any reviews on the products, any changes, or how I should spread out through the day. I have combo skin, oily on the sides of my nose, and my forehead, dry on my chin and cheeks. I’m not exactly sure if my skin is sensitive or not, but aveeno positively radiant made my face sting.
    It’s a very gentle scrub

    • Maybe ! says:

It might be good and it might not be. Everyone is different, and finding the right products for yourself can be very tricky. Some people never find the right thing.

While I can’t say if it’s good or not, what you have there is all natural. And the last I checked, natural ingredients are, more often than not, the best. Unless you have an allergy to any of the ingredients in what you plan to use, then Burt’s Bees is a very good choice.

      Best of luck!

which L’Oreal go 360 clean cleanser should i try out?
i have a combination of oily and dry skin in my T zone
I Also have redness on my cheeks & dry face at some times
i have blackheads in my nose & cheeks
i have pimples & break outs in forehead & cheeks
    i break ou every time

which one of the four cleansers shoud i try
the green bottle DEEP FACIAL CLEANSER
the orange bottle DEEP EXFOLIATING SCRUB
    pink one DEEP CREAM CLEANSER
BLUE ONE DEEP FACIAL CLEANSER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

HAS ANYBODY USED ANY OF THESE CLEANSERS & WHAT UR REVIEW?? ON THEM PLEASE TELL & if it work

    • Hattie says:

I would definitely use the blue one, the Deep Facial Cleanser for Sensitive skin. I pretty much have exactly what you have; blackheads and redness and dry/oily combo. The sensitive skin products really do work, because they won’t dry you out and they also wash out oil. If you have dryness, get a good moisturizer (I recommend Cetaphil, it won’t clog your pores and it’s fragrance free) and use that every single time after you wash your face. Just put a thin layer over everything.
Make sure you don’t scrub your face too hard, that would dry you out and might even cause more bacteria to go in if you damage your skin.
Will you let me know how the cleanser works out for you? I’m such a drugstore product sl*t that my mom’s banned me from buying cleansers, hair products, etc for two months. I have no idea what I’ll do :P. My Yahoo is bballcrazy125@yahoo.com

  10. sweetiegirl213 says:

Anyone know a good blackhead remover?
I’ve tried scrubs but they just dry out my face so i wanted to try maybe a facial massage like the wave but i’ve been seeing mixed reviews. so any ideas???

  11. ; don't let me fall says:

Which one? St. Ives green tea scrub OR cleanser? Or both?
I am currently using St Ives cleanser with tea tree oil. It’s gel and foams up. I like it but the green tea has much better reviews and seems better. I don’t find mine is helping as much as I’d like it too and the green tea one looks great.

So should I buy the cleanser : http://www.stives.ca/products/facial-products/naturally-clear/green-tea-cleanser.aspx
    OR the scrub : http://www.stives.ca/products/view-all.aspx

Or both? I don’t know if I should get 1 or both, because shouldn’t you only use a scrub a few times a week? Or is this one okay for everyday? And if I bought both, how would I use them (what order/when) and are they available in Canada ? Thanks

    • World says:

i use them both. i wash my face with the cleanser then with the scrub in the morning. and i use the apricot scrub at night, switching every few days to the green tea because it’s gentler on skin.

      they work amazing for me.

I want to get my skin looking as good as it can be for school…?
    Hi!

I’d like some ideas for a ‘skin detox’. I get spots and blackheads with a little shine. What can i do in 4 days to get it looking good? Need ideas for home remedies and treatments, as well as product recommendations for daily use. Nothing harsh please as my skin is sensitive and really severe spot treatments bring me out in rashes and more spots :/ ! Also has anyone tried St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub for oily/blemish prone skin? Reviews welcome.

    Thanks, Lucy x

    • secretface says:

St Ives facial scrub is really harsh; the rough texture can harm your skin and will likely make it worse unless you have really bad acne. They do a cream wash for blemished skin with little pink microbeads as well though and that’s much milder. Use toner after you wash your face. And eating lots of fruit and veg as well as drinking lots of water will help.

  13. pink_purple_perfect says:

What do you think about the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash?
Has anyone used this face wash before? And what did you think about it? I’m thinking of buying it but I wanted to see what people that have used think. I have oily skin with a little bit of acne and quite a few blackheads. I was also thinking about getting the scrub, any reviews on that? And if I do plan to get it should i get the facial wash or the cream wash?

    • Barbs Vineyard says:

LOVE it! It smells yummy, has just enough “scrubbiness” to clean your pores, and leaves your skin soft and smooth. I like the facial wash, the cream was a little heavy for me.

  14. Maggie says:

Which is would work better for me? Stridex Dual Solutions for Acne or Neutrogena Acne wash facial scrub?
Im currently using the Neutrogena scrub and it works really well but i use it’s all I ever use and I wanna shake things up a bit. I’ve heard about the stridex product and its gotten good reviews. I’m a teen with skin that has a very oily t-zone but dry cheeks. My skin is someimes sensitive and dries out really easily too. I have very light acne, only a few, small pimples i get around “that time of the month”. So people who have skin like me who have tried the stridex dual solutions acne thing, does it work?

    • Marika P says:

      yaaay acne questions!

a primary factor in dealing with acneic skin is to find a product (or products) and STICK WITH IT. “mixing it up a bit” is generally not a good idea. unlike your hair, your skin won’t benefit from switching products often.

i myself have acne bouts (at 25!) AND dry skin, extremely sensitive. what a bother, ug! as a teen, when it was at its worst, i went through the bevy of harsh Noxzema/oxy/etc products packed with hydro peroxide and salicylic acid. practically ripped my fragile skin right off.

now i use an extremely mild cleanser (burt’s bees is a good, inexpensive one. so natural it’s actually EDIBLE!) and a bi-weekly exfoliate (go quality, here. something w/ silicone beads. NOT shredded apricot pits or whatever those are. make thousands of tiny abrasions on your skin! ew!).

and of course MOISTURIZER! even if you have an oily t-zone, a good moisturizer is a MUST for acneic skin. (for all skin, actually.) a decent store bought brand is, surprisingly, Oil of Ole. i’m serious. get one rich w/ antioxidants (vits A, B, C, E) and an spf fact. of at least 15. it will protect your skin from free radicals and pollutions during the day. (and they’ll all the jealous of your satin skin when you’re 30!)

(a toner is a great investment, too, even though you don’t actually NEED it, per sae. but i’m really into the Zia toner right now for oily skin. it’ll help keep that oil down and soothe and refresh. it also smells freakin’ fantastic. and you don’t have to use it only at morning/night. take a little bottle w/ you and spitz to refresh any time of the day!)

another good investment for “that time of the month” is a quality mask or two. it’s not safe to go cheap, here, really. i like dermologica, personally. something super hydrating (not OILY, but HYDRATING) containing hyaluronic acid with give you a shot of moisture and soothe the redness of acne, while a clay/mineral cleansing mask is good for deep cleaning and detoxing. wouldn’t indulge in these more than 1x/week, maybe more often around your period.

a long, long answer, i know. just looove to talk about skin care!

      hope this helps. good luck!

Do you have any experience with “Spa – Lavish Your Pet – Fresh Facial Scrub”?
    http://spalavishyourpet.thoughtprocessinteractive.com/www/product.php?id=6

This product is touted as great at removing facial staining in dogs, particulary around the eyes. I’m hoping to hear some reviews of this product and whether or not it works for tear stains.

Also, do you use it on the whole body or do you use a different shampoo to wash the dog’s body.

My dog has bulgey eyes that run constantly. I’m looking for a product that will clean the rusty color off of his face, remove the musty odor and help relieve his itchiness in that area.

    • Vitamin C says:

ya. i dont use it but my friend does. she has a shihtzue who always has running eyes so he has red stains on his white fur. she started using this stuff like a year ago and you can see the difference in his coat! he is so shinny and vibrant! its amazing! i hope you use it to and when i get my chihuahua i will defanatly use that!

Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub?
I haven’t used facial cleansers before or anything specifically targeted for acne but I just bought the Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Scrub because the bottle was pink and it looked cute.
Now I read some reviews online and people have said that it gave them severe red and dry skin so bad it hurt.
I dont have sensitive or dry skin, but should I not use this product?

    • Beatles says:

just because some people said is Bad Just remember everybody has different

  17. April says:

Is 2% salicylic acid too strong for my skin?
In the past ive used blackhead clearing scrubs by Neutrogena and Clean and Clear for my face and all they did was make my skin oily. I looked at the back of the tubes and they said 2% salicylic acid. I read that if a facial cleanser makes your skin oily then it is too strong for your skin.

Now I want to try to use this Olay facewash called Blemish Control Lathering Cleanser but it has 2% salicylic acid. Ive read reviews on it with people saying its a good facial cleanser and it dried some peoples skin out but I didn’t see anything on it with someone saying that it made their skin oily.

I think I have combination oily skin. I can’t really say. I do have blackheads and dark spots all over my cheeks, chin, and nose. I just have small bumps on my forehead. I have open pores on my cheeks and in my nose (my nose and cheeks are covered in blackheads).

Would the Olay Blemish Control Lathering Cleanser just make my skin oily like the Neuatregena and the Clean and Clear products??????

Is the Blemish Control Lathering Cleanser too strong for my skin?

Which face wash should I use

    Blemish Control Lathering Cleanser
    http://www.olay.com/skin-care-products/facial-cleansers/acne-control-facial-cleanser?pid=075609029806

Daul Action Cleanser + Pore Scrub
    http://www.olay.com/skin-care-products/facial-cleansers/face-cleansing-scrub?pid=075609028847
In the past I think I used too much of the cleanser and maybe thats what made my skin so oily.

    • Kali says:

Without seeing your skin it would be hard to tell I would think that maybe you have an oily skin type. How large are your pores? You should invest in a really good skin cleanser for oily skin. I personally love Bioelements but many people recommend Dermalogica. I really don’t think its the cleansers salicylic acid or not. There is truth that if you over cleanse you will produce more oil or if you use products made for dry skin when you are not dry (like anything in the Olay line). Oily is a skin time so you shouldn’t feel ashamed of it just purchase a good cleanser for oily skin and wash twice a day. What brings me to conclude you are oily is you have breakouts and are complaining of oily skin. How large are you pores? Where are the smallest pores on your face located? How often after washing with anything are you oily?

    Cozy Moments on Etsy?
I was wondering have you guys ever heard of or bought anything from CozyMoments because I found their site a couple of weeks ago and read some of their reviews that people left and I really thinking of buying their Lip Scrub http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24390097 and http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=15716327 because I have bad oily skin and black heads all around my nose and a little on my cheeks. And plus, they have a lot of scents to choose from http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5250593 and they have other things from Creamy Bar Soaps/Cupcake Soaps, Foaming Cream Soaps, Sugar Scrubs/Body Polish, Whipped Body Frosting, Beautiful Body Butter, Milk and Honey Cream/Moisturizing Body Whip, Hair Care, Facial Care, Perfume/BodySplash,and Deodorant/LipBalm/Salves/Gloss and Everything Else. And all the things I buy from Publix is either crappy or leaves my face, hair and body too oily, dry or both.

Is St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub good?
I want to get the St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub and I’ve been reading some reviews. Some reviews say that is it really good and makes your skin soft but some says that it made them break out. I know that some products go well for some people but I want to know what you think of it. My skin is a little oily but not a lot. And I’ve been looking at all of the St. Ives Apricot Scrubs and I’m still thinking about which type I should get. I want one that mainly fights my acne and prevents acne.

    • Such a P.Y.T. ♥ says:

I adore the stuff. The only thing is that its quite a hardcore scrub lol, at least the invigorating one is, so its definitely not for daily use. They do a scrub for blemish prone skin but to be honest I would buy the invigorating one for all skin types – it will unclog pores and will ad moisturise and not make it oily. Don’t overuse it, maybe this is the reason people break out. Twice a week at most!

  20. Dark Fantasies says:

    What’s a good finishing powder?
I’m particularly limited to drugstore makeup because I find that, after buying a product & using it for a while, I don’t like the product anymore & begin to pick out too many Cons rather than Pros. I’m afraid that this will happen if I invest in a more expensive powder. However, I’m so tired of all of these products not working for me! I just need some good suggestions & the people of Yahoo! Answers makeup always seem to have something to try. I’m willing to go up to $20 if the product has enough good reviews online. It could be in a press compact or a powder that you brush over your face.

So I use Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Foundation & it’s been working great, especially for $10. I have very light/mild acne, red spots, & dark circles, all of which I occasionally treat with scrubs, exfoliators, facials, concealer, & other products. The problem is that I need to set my foundation with powder because of bits of oil that creep through. I like a matte finish that I just can’t seem to get. I was wondering if there was a product that someone could suggest to me 1) for a matte finish 2) to keep oily skin under control 3) that won’t cake up? Please list the Pros & Cons of the powder you suggest. Thanks!

    • kkay says:

Just simply use Makeup For Ever HD MicroFinish Powder from Sephora. It’s $15 for .17 oz which will last you for very long time and target all the conditions you have.

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Cleanser
    AcneFree Purifying Cleanser

Well, you get the point. So, I was wondering what you’ve used or currently use and how you like/liked it. PLEASE ONLY REVIEW PRODUCTS YOU CAN BUY AT A LOCAL DRUGSTORE. I don’t order thing online or over the phone.

    Thanks much!

I use the olay foaming face wash – that works wonders, but it leaves my face REALLY dry, I guess dry is waayyy better than having acne. I also have the clean and clear morning burst which I use sometimes and then I moisturize with the clean and clear moisturizer. That works wonders too.

What are some new facial cleansers?
I have large pores and a few blackheads & pimples, and my skin gets really oily. I’m looking for something that will clear my pores without overdrying my face.

I’ve recently been using the Loreal 360 Cleanser, St. Ives Apricot Scrub, the Wave Duo and the Garnier Nutritioniste Brusher-Gel Cleanser. The only one that really seemed to make a difference was the brusher-gel cleanser, but it really only made my skin softer and didn’t do anything to unclog my pores.

Has anyone tried the Garnier 3-way cleanser? I have heard good reviews about that and wanna try it out. What others have you used & like?

So two days ago I ordered, “Aveeno Active Naturals Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream” and “Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream” online and now hoping that it would arrive before my facial eczema get worse.

      Hey :)

I don’t have Eczema, but my brother has a mild case. He uses Aveeno and Cetaphil but I’m not really sure if it works well. His skin gets alot better whenever we go to rural, country side areas. Don’t exfoliate your skin too hard and often because it will probably encourage the peeling. Don’t eat too much dairy products or citrus fruits because it aggravates your skin more (or so i heard). use vitamin e tablets and vaseline because it helps moisturize :) once i had really peely skin for like a week and my doctor prescribed this stuff that is actually for people with Rosacea (a skin condition) and it was gone within a few days. Remember to moisturize a LOT and don’t be rough on your skin (esp. in the winter)

      Hope i helped!

I was wondering what people think of Soap & Glory Products selled in boots! I’ve been online and looked at all the reviews and theres not one bad one so i went out and bought Soap & Glory Clear Here Moisture Lotion and Soap & Glory The Greastest Scrub of All Self Activating Facial Smoother Exfoliater! And using these i didn’t see much difference in my skin i gave up after a week though which could be why and i do have oily skin/blackheads! The scrub didnt smell nice but left my skin smooth and the moisture didnt do anything for my oily skin made it worse but thats my review in a week! But i feel i dont want to give up on them have i just bought the wrong thing? Theres just so many good reviews i really want to like there products! Can anyone recommend a good product they’ve used and what skin type you have?

does the st.ives green tea facial cleanser help acne?
So i’ve struggles with acne for about 2 1/2 years now. I’ve never tried those products like proactive, acne free, skin id, because i know thats all benzol peroxide crap. But i have done alot of home remedies and nothing seemed to really work. Currently im using this neutrgonea oil-free acne wash. Its a green facial cleanser. And i feel like its not helping my acne or making it worse but its just a way of cleaning my face. The only reason why i havent tried anything else is because im scared. So i was reading online and i saw alot of good reviews on the st.ives green tea cleanser. Im not sure if i wanna give it a shot, but it seems like its worth it because its all natural. Can anyone who has experience with it tell me if it does help acne/blackheads also and scarring/redness.
Another thing i know they also have a green tea scrub. If i did the scrub once a week is this good too? By the way the st ives does say it removes dirt and makeup so i wuldnt have to use a makeup remover cloth or anything?
ANYONE PLEASE HELP…… im desperate to get clear skin.

    • CollegeGirl10 says:

St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser is fantastic! I would definitely recommend that you try it. It’s gentle, yet effective. It’s great for acne. I thought the Green Tea Scrub was better for blackheads and redness. If your skin can handle it, use the scrub a few times a week. Use the regular cleanser every day. I would still use a makeup remover cloth just to be safe. As for scarring, you should try Bio-Oil. Great stuff =)

      Best of luck!

The needle is for deeper whiteheads because if you squeeze too hard trying to pop a deep one you’ll drive bacteria deeper into the tissue and have a bigger problem than you would’ve had if you had left it alone. In rare instances in the triangular area of your eyes and nose it could really become a serious infection. I have never been a proponent of the scrubs is I think they are very irritating to the skin and can force particles into the pores causing pimples. If you shower daily and wash your face a time or two I think that is all the exfoliation you really need. Some of those dead skin cells serve as protection. Remember that fact need treatment is a huge industry and whereas it may be true there is room for some honest disagreement it is also true and easily provable in the whole medical industry, that profits often come before telling the patient the truth. St. Ives green tea cleanser vs. Scrub…which one?
Should I buy both or one, and if just one, which one !

I am currently using St Ives cleanser with tea tree oil. It’s gel and foams up. I like it but the green tea has much better reviews and seems better. I don’t find mine is helping as much as I’d like it too and the green tea one looks great.

So should I buy the cleanser : http://www.stives.ca/products/facial-pro…
    OR the scrub : http://www.stives.ca/products/view-all.a…

Or both? I don’t know if I should get 1 or both, because shouldn’t you only use a scrub a few times a week? Or is this one okay for everyday? And if I bought both, how would I use them (what order/when) and are they available in Canada ? Thanks

If you plan on using it every day then definitely get the cleanser. Scrubs have a tendency to tear away at the skin and irritate it. Best bet: CLEANSER.

My sympathy’s. While I don’t have facial eczema, I do suffer with it on my hands. I haven’t used an Aveeno product but their website looks promising. Oats and Shea Butter are great for skin. As is pure Aloe Vera (you should be able to find in a pharmacy or health food shop) which has performed fabulously in clinical trials.

Steroidal creams actually weaken the skin by making it grow faster to cover it. That isn’t to say they don’t have their place, but I only tend to use them if I get a severe attack. I am usually able to manage my eczema for several years at a time (my last severe attack was 3 years ago) by trying to limit exposure to irritants, using creams like Aveeno, aloe and Neutrogena, and managing my stress levels. Try washing in something like oilatum as well. Your pharmacist should be able to help you here. Do you know what is triggering yours?

I would never exfoliate skin with eczema. A facial scrub will only act like you scratching and won’t help.

I know how horrible it is, but it is manageable when you know the triggers attacks. I hope this helps a little.

Questions about L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser?
Alright so I have a couple questions about this L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser. I was doing some research on products for my face. I have somewhat oily skin. But the problem mostly lies with breakouts. I stumbled across this product and saw it has been getting pretty good reviews. A couple questions I have are:

Obviously how it’s worked for people currently or previously using it.

Is this more of a girls product or can guys use it as well?

Which one do you this is better, the regular deep facial cleanser or the deep exfoliating scrub?

What other other products go good with this, such as moisturizers?

    Any feedback is much appreciated.

    • shaolin90 says:

I have been using the exfoliating scrub (orange bottle) for 3 weeks now. I love the scrubber that came with the cleanser. It cleans better than just using hands. L’Oreal claims that the exfoliating scrub unclog and shrink pores but I have not yet noticed any difference. It does not remove dead skin as it claims. But my face does feel really smooth and refreshed after using it. I’m guessing it’s more of a girls product because the scrub is not very powerful that it irritates the skin. I think you might need to find a stronger scrub for a guy. I just got a huge breakout after using this. I don’t know if the cleanser is the cause itself or something else but this product sure doesn’t help.

    St Ives invigorating apricot scrub?
(I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN) So i bought this exfoliator on friday because of all of the positive reviews on it. On saturday, I noticed that it was drying out my skin, but stupidly I went on using it because I thought that it was one of those “get worse before it gets better” products. When I woke up this morning, i looked SUNBURNED and I had 2 new zits on my cheek. I know you are not supposed to exfoliate every day, but I confess I did both days. Has this happened to anyone else? And is it really a get worse before it gets better situation? I know it isn’t an atual sunburn, because I haven’t been outside, it hasn’t really been nice where I live. Please help! I’m not going to use it today because I think it could be a side effect from using it too much. Even cleansers as gentle as Cetaphil hurt. I have keratosis pilaris on my face too so I have to wear make up and cover it up, and it looks terrible with all of the dead skin!!! HELP!

P.S does anyone have any suggestions for facial products if you think this one is ready for the trash?

    • stolen cookiies says:

exfoliating daily is a big NO NO, especially with skin as sensitive as yours. The abrasiveness of the scrub is hurting your skin before it even has a chance to repair itself. I would DEF suggest once a week, and also i would recommend a scrub with “rounded” micro scrubbers, and more gentle, kind of like this one: http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/facial-exfoliators/prod4790021
the apricot scrub is like little grainy jagged grains of sand and that will cause more breakouts, and even with prolonged use a “crater face” effect as they are digging into your pores and causing an ‘irritating’ effect With skin as sensitive as yours you dont even have to buy a designated scrub, try a facial buffer, its like a loofah but for your face. Just apply your regular face wash and in soft circular motions go around your face.
      http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/skin-care-accessories/prod5140025
thats the one i use, again only once or twice a week at max
whatever you decide to go with just make sure they have rounded scrubbers,VERY important (many scrubs and exfoiliaters use them now)
and only 1 or twice a week
      ^_^

I have suffered from eczema since i can remember, and the only thing that works for me is, staying away from fragrances, literally, i wash my clothes and sheets in fragrance-free soap, take showers with fragrance-free shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Trust Me, the redness will go away and later on you will notice the dry patches disappear. :)

    • Nicole<3 says:

I’ve tried both, and I really like both.(: I think this depends on you, and what kind of product your looking for. The Biore leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and cool, and the St. Ives leaves my skin feeling smooth. Most drugstores have a sample size of the St.Ives, so if I were you, I would try the sample out and see if you like it. If you do, buy the larger size. If not, try the Biore. I do like both, so I think this would depend on you. Good Luck (:

would this be a good facial routine for pimples?
well i am getting my school money next week so i am going to buy some new stuff would these be good i have oily skin

clean and clear morning burst cleanser (i heard good reviews for it)
    neutrogena oil free moisturizer spf15

    morning:
in the morning i will use clean and clear morning burst in the shower and apply the moisturzer.
    afternoon:
i will wipe my face with clearasil sialcyclic acid however you spell it in the afternoon to wipe away oiliness after i get home from school.
    night:
wash face with noxzema and wipe again with clearasil. and exfoiliate twice a week with st.ives scrub.

what do you think of this good or bad?
thanks about the aveeno i will just use that but which moisturizer aveeno to? is it lightweight?

    • zaraahmed100 says:

Okay firstly, the more stuff you put on your face the more you’re going to break out. I just use Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Wash and it helps control my pimples quite well. I only use it at night, however. And I’ve found I’ve been breaking out less using just this.
I used to use the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Cleanser and I broke out SOOOO BAD! Every single day I would wake up with a new pimple on my face – don’t use it. Use something that is very gentle. Aveeno is gentle enough to remove oil and makeup and doesn’t make your skin produce more sebum = less breakouts because less oil is clogging the hair follicle. Trust me on this. Wash your face in the morning with just water, pat dry with towel.. Don’t do anything in the afternoon. If you feel you must wash your face use water again, pat dry with towel. Then at night right before bed use the Aveeno wash (one pump is enough) trust me. Then pat your face dry and apply a non-greasy moisturizer. Hope this helps ! :)

    Multiple face cleaning questions?
I wanna know how to keep a clean and clear face.

What are good drugstore acne products?
Example, Clean And Clear, St.Ives, Neutrogena etc.

What is a good Exfoliate scrub?
I’ve heard this one is good http://www.stives.com/products/facial-products/fresh-skin/apricot-scrub-invigorating.aspx but i’ve heard bad reviews on it too.

What is a good drugstore moisturizer?

And what is a good sunscreen for your face?

What is the routine for cleaning your face?

And when do I need to use the Exfoliate scrub?

Sorry for so asking so many questions.
Thanks in advance, and please.. No rude comments.

~Biore blemish fighting ice cleanser is great for every day. Biore also has a scrub that is amazing and won’t dry out your skin too much.

      ~Aveeno makes the best lotions.

~Neutrogena makes a facial sunscreen that doesn’t clog pores and is hypoallergenic.

      I highly recommend Biore’s line, it’s amazing. http://www.biore.com/usa/

Which of these scrubs/toners would be good for my skin?
I have acne prone skin that dries out easily. I have looked at a few reviews of products and I have a list of things I want to try:

    Scrubs:
St. Ives Apricot Scrub (Blemish and Blackhead Control)
    Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub
    Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub

    Toners:
Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Daily Facial Toner
    Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner
Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent
Stridex Daily Care Soft Touch Pads (for Sensitive Skin, 0.5% salicylic acid, with aloe)

    • hey says:

I don’t have bad acne, but my skin becomes really dry if i start a new product. I would probably stay away from Neutrogena for the scrubs and tones, simply because they dry skin. Either the Aveeno or St. Ives for the scrubs or the Dickinson’s Which Hazel or Stridex Daily Care pads.
Be careful not to use the Stridex pads too much and over do it.

      Hopefully I helped!

    Which cleanser/products should I purchase?
I washed and waxed my uncle’s truck this past weekend, and he gave me $35. I save the small weekly allowance that I get, and because I’m in need of some new skincare products, I wanted to head over to my local Walgreens to buy me a new cleanser, and possibly a few other products. Walgreens is also great because I’m only 16 and dig great deals!

I have pretty normal skin, but this past year I moved from a dry climate to a humid climate. Before my skin was pretty much perfect, and I’d break out once or twice every couple of months. Now, I always have little flesh-colored bumps around my chin, there are blotchy spots and pinkish scars, and I’ve been getting very painful, large cystic pimples. I’ve tried quite a few products, I’ve tried not using anything, and so far nothing works. All the cleansers I have tried do nothing to prevent the acne, so I’m really wanting to find a good cleanser.

Which cleanser should I purchase: ‘Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser’ or ‘Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleanser’?
If you have any other suggestions, that would be great!

I was also going to purchase ‘Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment’, as it has received excellent reviews. The ‘Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque’ has good reviews as well, and is pretty cheap.
    Any comments about these products?

So, would a good acne fighting/preventing routine be using one of the above cleansers, toning with witch hazel, applying oil-free moisturizer, and apply the 3-in-1 acne treatment twice a day? And then to exfoliate 2-3 times a week with St. Ives Apricot Scrub (this does nothing for my acne, but it leaves my skin really smooth and refreshed) and use the Mint Julep mask once a week and as a spot treatment overnight?

I’m trying to keep my routine a little more consistent and gentle then it’s been lately, and I also want to get rid of these annoying, painful pimples without seeing a dermatologist!

Oh, and has anyone tried the mask sheets from The Face Shop? You can buy these from Walgreens now, and they look pretty interesting.
Any and all tips and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
I really don’t have the money to buy anything expensive. If I could I would, but there is no way I have enough cash to splurge on stuff like that, nor do my parents.
I’m kind of stuck at Walgreens/Walmart here =/
Right now, all I do is wash my face twice a day, and follow that up with an all natural witch hazel toner and an oil-free moisturizer. The cleanser is called PanOxyl, and it’s the only acne product I’ve been using because most spot treatments are too harsh and make my skin itchy/red.
    I’m a vegetarian, so I eat well.
    Maybe it’s just hormones. =[

      STOP!!! Stop, stop, stop.

You are washing your face way too often and using way too many products that don’t work with each other.

You are stripping your skin of its natural oils which is why your acne is getting worse.

You only need to wash your face when you wake up, and before you go to bed, moisturizing each time.

Drink more water, eat raw fruits and vegetables, keep your hands away from your face, and use the same brand of one cleanser, one moisturizer, and one spot treater for big blemishes. The Neutrogena brand has products for each of these.

What is your full morning/night skincare routine?
I’m 15, and i’m really big on skincare! I don’t wear much makeup at all and i’ve always put a lot of time into making sure my skin is taken care of. I get a pimple here and there, but i’ve never had acne. I hope to keep it that way :P

I just want to know (out of curiousity) what everyone’s skincare routines are! =]

    Here’s my current:
-Clearasil Ultra daily face wash (i do it to prevent pimples & acne)
-Clean & Clear makeup dissolving oil-free foaming cleanser
-Origins Checks & Balances face wash
-Bath & Body works body scrub in Sweet Pea

So i use one of those, and then I moisturize with Origins “Have a Nice Day” SPF 15 moisturizer for oily skin.

I’m looking to update my skincare routine, i got bored with it (also because the Origins products are really expensive, $18 for the face wash and $36 for the moisturizer- I don’t want to spend that much every time i run out) and i’ve come up with some products that i’d like to buy. I’ll just write it here also :)
-L’Oreal Go 360 Cream cleanser (the pink one)
-Neutrogena SPF 35 Oil Free moisture (i can’t find reviews or anything on this so i’m guessing it’s new, because it’s on neutrogena’s website)
-Neutrogena Alcohol free toner (do i need a toner at this age?)
-Neutrogena Oil free acne wash facial cleanser redness soothing
-Clean&Clear morning burst in shower facial
^all of these together costed less than the origins moisturizer =] yay!!

My mom told me that she’s used neutrogena for a long time and it’s a great brand, so that’s why i picked most of their items. If you guys use ANY of the products i mentioned, please please let me know if you like them or not! i’d really appreciate it =]

    Now I can’t decide!!?
Okay so I was looking into Queen Helene products and I came across the Cocoa Butter Natural Facial Scrub and it have A LOT of good reviews. People compared it to St. Ives and some said it was better and others said it was more gentle on their skin.

    So now I’m stuck.
Which one is better? Which one should I get? St. Ives Blemish and Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub or Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Natural Facial Scrub?

  46. Jacqui Villarreal says:

    • Beatles says:
